UNIVERSITY OF CANBERRA
DESIGN SOCIETY
Our goals this year have been to develop social engagement within the community of students not only at University of Canberra, but also throughout the network of students in CIT and through ANU as it develops its new program through 2017.

My personal involvement with the society has come through a desire to update the visual language to a culturally relevant standpoint. I have always approached design from an artistic standpoint, that is to say, everything created contributed to the visual history of our world. Directly in contact with the communication of ideas and goods, design exists with the ability to immediate these visual changes.

The UCDS was restructured at the changing of hands, Ian has organized a range of successful events and shows, and together we have arranged group exhibitions, professional talks and practical skill classes.

Design for the UCDS logo was inspired by the geometrical sensibilities of the Bauhaus, I often pay tribute to Herbert Bayer in my work.
Semester 1 saw me hosting both a beginner and advanced paste-up class, exploring the intention of street art in public space.
During the mid-term we held a group exhibition NEW TYPOGRAPHERS, More than 30 entries featured 22 artists and designers.

2016 has seen my close collaboration with President Ian Dudley as Vice President of the UC Design Society.
